Also, there are players from all sorts of different backgrounds on these boards and playing with us in arena. Some of them are PvP veterans and a couple quick words will let us know what you're running. Others are just dipping into competitive PvP, and going over skill selections and *why* is important.

So very true. Coming from the randoms my guy was basically designed to tank and self heal. On the inside, I was a little reluctant to leave home without my trusty healing signet that has saved me time and time again. To completely change from a somewhat typical defensive build to offensive was a nice change of pace.
In the 22 matches we played, I used a res sig once in the first match. Even though I brought my own condition remover I never once used it because of how quickly it got removed. I completely forgot I even had it on my skillbar.
Even though I don't think I was at my best game (I am afterall hardcore PvE), every match was a breeze. Great monk support, great communication amongst each other (even though I didn't talk much), and it was a great way to become more used to a different environment. Plus the faction was a nice bonus.

Well, after several hours in Arena today, I farmed a little over 500 faction, came across a massive amount of leavers, flamers and idiots, and found only one team that went all the way to Team Arenas. So thank you, iQ, for giving some of us some respite from that.
As far as my 8-game stint went, the thing that stood out was the near-instantaneous recognition of the opposing team's build and strategy, so much so that a couple words were all that was needed to set the counter in motion. That and the excellent monk support, so that I never had to worry about health.
Can't wait for observer mode, so I can get a better sense of what goes into that sort of teamwork.

Just want to make a general comment that prehaps this should be stickied for the time being. It really is a good way for players to gain some good PvP tips.

With the amount of response ive seen in this thread being interested in going into a pvp situation with IQ, im almost surprised it hasnt turned into a 4 IQ with 4 random people groups in the tombs. Might be funny if you get enough IQ lead groups running to see the entire free for all map with the IQ tag running around.

You need 5 in the same guild to be shown as that guild, but yea, that would be fun. I have to say, I've been having a lot of fun with many of the guru people joining our arena runs. It differs our faction farming routine a bit to be playing with different people. Can't wait to play with more of you guys, and hopefully sometime do iQ meets pug tombs runs

I'd love to play.
I usually play rather oddball Ether Renewal builds (heal, protection, smiting, knockdown spam, and all sorts of things) and various earth elementalists, but I can also do conventional heal/protector and a few mesmer builds. I don't have a set build, but customize whatever I'm doing to the team I'm in.
Who do I whisper ingame?
Ingame name: Galen Elmo or Galen Hardril

Just wanted to let everyone know that we're still doing this. Since we tend to pick a person for the team and then play all night with them we've only been playing with 1 or 2 people a night at the most. As a result, it it'll be a while before we make it through the list.
I've updated the list of people interested here. Should include everyone now.
